In April 2020 the European
Co-operation for Accreditation (EA) published an updated version of EA-2/17: EA
Document on Accreditation for Notification Purposes.
EA-2/17 was written with the
objective to harmonise implementation of the requirements across Europe. A revision was needed in order to make it clearer, more
understandable, and easier to apply compared to the previous version, and in
order to improve the usage of the so called “preferred standard”, thus leading
to a more level playing field in the different Member States. More
specifically, the special aspects of the construction products regulation (CPR)
were to be reflected (e.g. CPR doesn’t determine the compliance of the
performance, but its consistency, and it makes the usage of harmonized standards
mandatory).
All Conformity Assessment Bodies
working as Notified Bodies will have to comply with the requirements of the
preferred standard as identified in Annex A by end April 2023 unless there are
any written exemptions from the Notifying Authority i.e. the Malta Competition
and Consumer Affairs Authority.
Document EA-2/17 M may be downloaded
